On Friday, December 1, 2023 and as part of the Christmas celebration, the event of lighting the Christmas Tree of the “PAPAGOS” Camp took place in its forecourt, which was organized by the Special Regiment of GEETHA, marking the beginning of the festive season.

The lighting was carried out jointly by the Minister of National Defense Mr. Nikolaos-Georgios Dendias and the Chief of General Staff General Konstantinos Floros.

The Minister of National Defense wished the Military and Civilian Personnel as well as their families ahead of the holidays.

In his greeting, the Chief of GEETHA thanked all those present for their presence at the event, characterizing the Christmas Tree of the Camp as a symbol of joy, hope and optimism.

He also referred to the improvements that have been achieved in terms of strengthening the personnel and weapon systems of the Armed Forces, infrastructure, as well as their contribution to society as a whole, highlighting the iconic Monument to the Immortals of the Nation within the Camp (click here) and the recently inaugurated Headquarters of the Special Warfare Command (DEP) of the GEETHA.

Finally, he wished everyone a Happy New Year with health, love, peace and hope for the Christmas holidays, and may 2024 be a year filled with good news for our Country, the Armed Forces and their personnel.

The event, which took place in a festive atmosphere, was attended by the Military and Civilian Staff of the Camp accompanied by members of their families, a number of activities took place for the entertainment of the children and was accompanied by Christmas songs by the Interbranch Band of the Armed Forces.

The ceremony was also attended by: GEA Chief Vice-Captain (I) Themistocles Bourolias, GES Chief Lieutenant General Angelos Houdeloudis, GEN Chief Vice-Admiral Ioannis Drymusis PN and the Commander of the Special Warfare Command (DEP) of the GETH Lieutenant General Dimitrios Houpis.
