The leader of GEETHA, General Konstantinos Floros, at the ceremony of honor to his person by the AUTH declared that “we respect everyone but we are not afraid of anyone and we demand respect from everyone without exception”
“We are not threatening anyone, but there is no way we will let a single grain of sand go to waste.” announced the head of the Greek Armed Forces, general Konstantinos Floros, at the event of honor to his person by the AUTH held at the Guard Officers Club of Thessaloniki.
“We respect everyone but fear no one and demand respect from everyone without exception”, underlined the leader of GEETHA, who was honored at the initiative of the Law School of AUTH “for his work in the country’s defense armor and for his trust in the Foundation’s contribution to the education and research of the Armed Forces”.
“Aye and woe to him who will belittle us. We are not threatening anyone, but there is no way we will let a single grain of sand, not a speck of Greek land, not a millimeter of Greek soil be lost. We are not warmongers. We are completely determined and sure of ourselves. Determined for ourselves and sure of the Greek weapons”, he emphasized emphatically.
Mr. Floros pointed out that in the last four years during his leadership the armed forces were called upon to face unprecedented crises and situations, revisionist attitudes, increased crises and threats
He also stated that he was moved by the award from one of the leading higher educational institutions of the country, the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, which he said plays a leading role nationwide and beyond.
He referred to the multifaceted importance of Thessaloniki for Greece and the nation and described it as a “landmark city for the Balkans and Southeast Europe”.
In his greeting, the transitional rector of AUTH, Apostolos Apostolidis noted that the Foundation’s cooperation with the armed forces comes at the most appropriate time. “Research, science unites peoples. The research will contribute to the development of the Greek defense industry”, he added.
At the event the former dean of AUTH, Dimitris Kovaios, the dean of the School of Law, Panagiotis Glavinis and the professor of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of AUTH Giorgos Karagiannidis spoke
The event was attended by the leadership of the Armed Forces, parliamentarians, members of the university community, mayors and a large number of people.
