A car driver was spotted moving at a speed of 251 km/h in N.E.O. Athens – Lamia in recent police checks.

The driver was arrested by the OEPTA police officers, as he was detected through a Special Electronic Technical Device (radar installed in a patrol vehicle) moving at a speed of 251 km/h on the N.E.O. Athens-Lamia, at the height of m/th 26,000, in the traffic flow towards Lamia, exceeding the maximum permitted speed limit.

The driver, with the case against him for dangerous driving, was taken to the Athens District Attorney as part of the autoforos, while the prescribed administrative sanctions were also imposed on him.

Continuous operational actions to deal with – prevent dangerous road behaviors that contribute to traffic accidents are planned and implemented by the Attica Traffic Directorate.

Against the period from 27-11 to 2-12-2023were carried out by higher-ranking police officers at its key points road network of Attica-12,903- traffic controls and a total of -4,275- violations were confirmedimminent administrative fines, of which -169- entail additional criminal sanctions (misdemeanors).

The following violations were confirmed in detail:

• Not using a seat belt: -112-
• Use of a mobile phone: -73-
• Uninsured vehicles: -52-
• Dangerous maneuvers: -13-
• Demonstration of skills/ Performing impromptu matches: -4-
• Causing noise beyond the permitted limits (noise pollution): -52-
• Other traffic violations: -3,176-

In addition, -357- pairs of license plates, -506- driving licenses and -430- traffic licenses were removed, as well as -283- vehicles were immobilized and -106- of them were transported by crane. It is noted that

Targeted police actions were carried out throughout the territory yesterday, Monday, December 4, 2023, as part of the implementation of the Strategic Planning of the Hellenic Police Headquarters to combat crime and improve the level of citizens’ security.

In this context, units were activated with the participation of visible and invisible police officers, from various Services, taking into account the local operational plans and emphasizing areas and settlements, where increased incidents of delinquency are observed.

During the above actions throughout the country, a total of -20,925- people and -15,673 – vehicles were checked, while

  • -958- people were brought in,
  • -484- people were arrested for various crimes,
  • 4,116 violations of the Code of Civil Procedure were confirmed,
  • stopped –101– vehicles and
  • were seized –3-.

For example, in the wider area of ​​Western Attica, targeted actions were carried out in the context of which -803- people were checked, -4- people were arrested, while -79- violations of the Criminal Code were confirmed.

In addition, in the area of ​​Kifissia, -58- people and -29- vehicles were checked, -2- people were arrested and -42- violations of the Code of Civil Procedure were confirmed, while in the area of ​​Agios Nikolaos Chalkida, -9- people were checked.

Also, in Central Macedonia and in particular in the Municipality of Pydna – Kolindros of the Prefecture of Pieria:

  • -462- people and -362- vehicles were checked
  • -12- people were brought in,
  • -1- person was arrested for drugs,
  • confirmed –141– violations of the Code of Civil Procedure, –2– for deprivation of a health certificate and –1– for illegal occupation of common space and
  • –2– vehicles were immobilized.

At the same time, special police operations took place in Thessaly, Epirus and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, in areas and settlements with increased incidents of crime.

In particular, in this context, in Thessaly and in particular in the area of ​​Farsala:

  • 115 people and 93 vehicles were checked
  • –4– people were brought in,
  • -1- person was arrested for electricity theft,
  • 60 violations of the Code of Civil Procedure were confirmed. and
  • –3– vehicles were immobilized.

In Epirus and specifically in areas of Preveza:

  • –45– people and –37– vehicles were checked
  • –3– people were brought in and
  • 13 violations of the Code of Civil Procedure were confirmed.

In Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, specifically in Soufli Alexandroupolis:

  • 19 people and 16 vehicles were checked
  • –1– person was brought in,
  • Confirmed –1– violation of Code of Civil Procedure and
  • stopped –1– vehicle.

Targeted police actions aimed at preventing and suppressing crime and instilling a sense of security in citizens will continue with undiminished intensity.
