Vatopoulos in SKAI: The masks will be with us for a long time – The pandemic is not over

by

The certainty that there will be other pandemic waves was expressed by the professor of Microbiology at the University of West Attica, Alkiviadis Vatopoulos speaking to SKAI and the show “Today”. However, he pointed out that the question is how big and deadly they will be, a fact that can not be predicted.

At the same time, Mr. Vatopoulos stated that the hard pointers will not be at high levels for long, explaining that de-escalation is a given, as both cases as imports have declined. “This does not mean that the pandemic has come to an end,” he said.

Asked if the carnival events will take place this Halloween, he did not seem particularly optimistic, noting that “a carnival will obviously cause a crowd. “Crowding will bring cases, they will bring disease and therefore serious incidents.” He said there was a political decision across Europe to end the restrictions as much as possible, but that there was a health risk.

For Easter, he estimated that “this year we will be able to go to the village” and added that the summer will be better, since the immunization of the population is much better and there are medicines, however he stressed that we will not throw away the masks. “The masks will be with us for a long time,” he concluded.
