The 31-year-old policeman who was hit by a naval flare in the thigh, during the incidents last night, outside the closed gym “Melina Mercouri” in Rentis, while the match was being held, is hospitalized in a critical but stable condition at the General State Hospital of Nicaea volleyball between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos for the quarter-final phase of the “Nikos Samaras” League Cup.

The police officer was taken to the hospital with hemorrhagic shock, where he was intubated and late at night underwent a long surgery.

The match was stopped permanently.

The Minister of Citizen Protection Yiannis Oikonomou, Deputy Minister Kostas Katsafados and the leader of ELAS, Lieutenant General Lazaros Mavropoulos rushed to the General State Hospital of Nicaea last night.
