An armed robbery that took place five years ago in the Thermi area of ​​Thessaloniki, with a victim of a 71-year-old man, was solved.

A 38-year-old man originally from Georgia was identified as one of the perpetrators, who is already temporarily detained for theft. Three other accomplices of his, currently unknown to the authorities, are being sought for the same case.

The robbery – according to an announcement by the Police – took place in the evening hours of July 31 to August 1, 2018. The perpetrators set up a trap outside the old man’s house and when he got out of his car, they approached him, beat him and tied his hands. with cable ties. Then, according to the same announcement, they took him to his home, where they searched the premises removing money, jewelry and a mobile phone device.

The victim managed to free himself and reported the incident to the authorities. According to what he testified, the perpetrators brought a weapon with them with which they threatened him.

The case filed against the 38-year-old is forwarded to the Thessaloniki Prosecutor’s Office. It includes the acts of joint robbery, illegal detention and violation of the Arms Act.
