With the sponsorship of the Greek subsidiary STIHL in the context of the successful “Adopt your city” program, the green space in Ano Patisia acquired a modern and attractive image, upgrading the neighborhood and offering the residents an outlet for rest and recreation.
In the park, all the necessary earthworks were done, corridors were shaped, a new automatic irrigation system was installed, the existing urban equipment was restored, the LED lighting was upgraded for better light and energy saving. Also, the existing greenery was preserved, additional ones were planted 620 new plants and shrubs and turf laid. In the next period, the renovation of the field located near the park is expected to be completed.
“Pocket parks prove that everyday life in a neighborhood can be changed with small and smart interventions. Through the Adopt Your City program we have found many allies in our quest to create green, free, public space almost out of nowhere. Without incurring a single euro to the citizen of Athens. I thank STIHL for the kind contribution”, said the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, in a statement.
Overall through the “Adopt Your City” program 11 pocket parks were created in Athens which are located in the following neighborhoods: Kypseli, Kolonos, Pagrati, Metaxourgeio, Sepolia, Petralona, Neo Kosmos, Agios Artemios, Patisia and Ano Patisia.
