The 18-year-old who was arrested for the attack with a naval flare against the 31-year-old police officer during the incidents at the Melina Merkouri stadium in Rentis was given a deadline to apologize on Thursday at 11 am by the Piraeus investigator.

The 18-year-old was taken back to GADA where he is being held.

His lawyer, Apostolos Lytras, speaking to journalists, said that his client has already given a statement and claimed that his intention was to throw the flare high and he had never used such a flare before.

He also claimed that the naval flare had been given to him by one of the organized fans with masked features in order to attack the police forces when they left the stadium.

Mr. Lytras said that the 18-year-old and his family are currently interested in the health of the police officer.

As he stated this morning to SKAI the lawyer of the 18-year-old, his client he wasn’t the only one to throw a flare to the policeman. “Two flares fell. We don’t know if the police officer was injured by the flare that the 18-year-old threw,” added Mr. Lytras.

He also said that the 18-year-old is in shock, he could not speak for the first five minutes.

The indictment against the 18-year-old includes efelonies and misdemeanors

– Attempted murder

-Explosion from which a danger to humans may arise together with unknown perpetrators

– Possession of explosive and incendiary materials that may pose a danger to humans together with unknown perpetrators

-Disturbance of domestic peace together

-Violence in common

-Possessing sparklers, firecrackers and generally flammable materials together

– Moral authorship in the above actions by unknown perpetrators
