Regarding the case of the fatal death of Oliver, a Husky dog, in Arachova and the developments so far from the investigations of the Homicide department that has arrived in the area to investigate what caused his death, the Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection spoke to ERT, Kostas Katsafados, on the occasion of information about overthrow in the initial reports of human abuse.

The dog, Husky breed according to the testimony of the first veterinarian who examined him, was allegedly abused with incredible brutality and raped with a sharp object when he left the yard of his owner’s house. Unlucky Oliver managed to return home again but unfortunately it was too late.

“Senior officers of the Security and Forensic Department have already gone up (in Arachova) for several days. They have taken witness statements from all the neighbors, they have examined video footage and within the day, tomorrow at the latest, there will be announcements around this case” said the Deputy Minister of Citizen Protection.

“We have come to the conclusion of the cause of the dog’s death and the Greek Police officers will make an announcement very soon,” said K. Katsafados.

He will “clear” the name of Arachova

When Mr. Katsafados answered a question about whether he would “clear” the name of Arachova, who was in the spotlight due to allegations of an attempt to hide the culprit, Mr. Katsafados characteristically said “I think he will.”

It should be noted that an urgent investigation to identify the perpetrator and bring criminal charges against him for the brutal torture of the dog, which ultimately failed to survive in Arachova, was requested on December 4 by order of the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court, Anastasia Masoura, who has the supervision of the prosecuting authorities for the protection of animals.

The highest prosecutor’s office addressed the Livadia Prosecutor’s Office, where Arachova belongs, in order to inform it immediately about the progress and results of the investigation.
