Joint training between the US Armed Forces and AC-130 Gunship aircraft was conducted on December 6 in the wider maritime area northwest of Crete and east of the Peloponnese.

As announced today by the General Staff of the National Defense (GDS), the joint training is part of the military cooperation actions planned by the GDS, while on the Greek side, a pair of F-4 fighters participated in escort and supply missions from the Greek Air Force Close Air Support (CAS), from the Navy, personnel from the Submarine Disaster Command with a MARK V Unorthodox Warfare – Fast Transport Vessel, from the Special Warfare Command of the GEETHA, a Joint Terminal Attack Controller – JTAC) and personnel with a speedboat.

Fires were fired from the AC-130 Gunship aircraft, directed by the JTAC team, at the “Ships” firing range.

The joint training, the statement added, contributed to the increase of combat capability, as well as to the improvement of the level of mutual understanding and interoperability between the participating Greek and American Armed Forces.
