Two foreigners originally from Albania were arrested yesterday morning in Thessaloniki for large quantities of narcotics.

According to the announcement by ELAS, the two persons aged 58 and 49 were located in a parking lot in the area of ​​Diavati with a total of 53 kilos of hashish. Information indicates that the police officers fought with them while they were transferring the load of cannabis from one vehicle to another. It is noted that the hashish was hidden in plastic barrels.

According to ELAS, the 58-year-old had the role of importing the drugs from a neighboring country and delivering them to the 49-year-old, who took care of the receipt, storage and trafficking of the quantities of drugs within the Greek territory.

“Police officers of the Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate of the Security Directorate of Thessaloniki, in the context of a well-organized and coordinated operation, yesterday morning (14-12-2013), proceeded to arrest two foreigners, aged 49 and 58, for whom a case file was filed for violation of Law “on Addictive Substances”.

Specifically, police officers of the Department of General Affairs, after using information, identified the 49-year-old with his vehicle and the 58-year-old with an I.X. Truck in a truck parking lot in the area of ​​Diavata, where in a subsequent check they were found and confiscated by the I.X.E. car four plastic drums, which contained (20) bales of raw cannabis, total weight (20) kilos and (497) grams, while from I.X. Seven barrel truck with (32) bales of raw hemp, total weight (33) kilograms and (690) grams.

In addition, in the possession of the perpetrators and in the search that followed at the home of the 49-year-old, in the area of ​​Sykes, were found and confiscated:

the amount of (2,350) euros,
(259.3) grams of cocaine,
(8) mobile phones;
(143) grams of unknown impurity substance,

(15) pharmaceutical preparation packaging and

Two-wheeled motorcycle owned by him.
From the further police investigation it emerged that the 58-year-old had the role of importing the drugs from a neighboring country and delivering them to the 49-year-old, who took care of the receipt, storage and trafficking of the quantities of drugs within the Greek territory.

It is noted that the 58-year-old is pending a decision of the Three-member Court of Criminal Appeals of Western Macedonia, by which he was sentenced to a prison sentence of (5) years and a fine of (10,000) euros for violating the same offense.

Those arrested with the case filed against them will be taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Thessaloniki, while police officers of the Narcotics Prosecution Sub-Directorate continue their multi-faceted action with unabated pace and systematicity to identify and dismantle criminal organizations and drug trafficking and trafficking rings”.
