The boy, 8 years old, of Greek origin, came to the emergency room on 18.12.2023, in the early hours of 19.12.2023, 04:00, in the ICU of the Hospital, in a car, accompanied by his parents, from the area of ​​the Western Suburbs.

According to the announcement, the boy “presented respiratory failure and circulatory shock, in the context of septic shock with a reported febrile upper respiratory infection for four days.

He was resuscitated with fluids and administered a triple antibiotic regimen at the Outpatient Clinics and was immediately admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.

The circulatory system was intubated and supported with 3 inotropes. γ-globulin was administered. A few hours after being admitted to the ICU and despite the intensive support of all systems, he suffered a cardiac arrest and died at 09:44. Cultures of biological fluids are awaited to identify a possible microbial agent.

An autopsy will be performed.”
