Part of a strategy to change the higher education system in our country, he characterized through SKAI the reform for non-state universities the Minister of Education Kyriakos Pierrakakis.

He added that the public university is a flagship of the strategy.

He stated that based on the data, overall 40,000 Greeks study abroad and most of them would like to study in our country but cannot.

At the same time, he pointed out that the goal is to bring more foreign students to our country.

The minister underlined that this step is being taken with care and seriousness as well as with an emphasis on the university’s quality criteria. He added that the method of admission will be based on the criteria of each university that will come to Greece.

He also said that in all the countries of the world the issue with non-state universities has been resolved and here we are having a discussion of a doctrinal nature. He called on “all parties to help with their views, even those that disagree.”

Regarding the criteria for the establishment and operation of Non-State-Non-Profit universities, he clarified that “all the criteria will be decided by the National Higher Education Authority and will be the strictest in Europe”.

He underlined that the first reform to come is professional training, adding that 100 million euros will be given for workshops, 130 new professions will be added and 60 new campus structures will be created.
