The graduation ceremony was held for 33 new Negotiators of the Greek Policewho have successfully completed the basic training program.

The candidates, after evaluation in two stages/procedures, had been selected by an Advisory Committee at an earlier time as the most suitable to attend the demanding 12-day (from 4 to 16 December 2023) training, at the premises of the School of Post-Training and Training of the Greek Police in Attica.

At the same time, the training was attended by a Psychiatrist and Psychologists from the Greek Police, with the aim of developing a common understanding of the negotiation framework and the mutual understanding of the role of Negotiators – Mental Health Specialists, during the management of negotiation incidents.

The program was organized and implemented by the Unified Operations & Crisis Management Coordination Center of the Hellenic Police Headquarters, in collaboration with the Hellenic Police Negotiators training team and the Hellenic Police Continuing Education and Training School,

The aim of the training was to train executives in crisis negotiation and in particular in communication and negotiation philosophy, concepts, processes and techniques.

It included a theoretical part, practical exercises, case studies, simulation scenarios of real incidents, as well as a final real field exercise, where a hostage incident was simulated with the participation of a team from E.K.A.M. and the activation of technological equipment of the Hellenic Police for related incidents.

The completion of the training was attended by the Director of the Security Service of the Hellenic Parliament, Brigadier General Fotios Duitsis, who addressed the graduates and presented study certificates.

The closing ceremony was also attended by the Assistant Commander of the Police Academy, Brigadier General Konstantinos Chalkias, the Commander of the National Security School, Brigadier General Panagiotis Kollintzas, the Commander of the Greek Police Training School, Police Director Ilias Paliogiorgos, who also delivered a greeting, Commander of the Greek Police Officer School, Police Director Georgios Klitorakis, the Director of the Unified Operations and Crisis Management Coordination Center, Police Director Lambros Chrysanthakis, as well as other senior officers.

As noted in the relevant announcement, the successful candidates will be named as Hellenic Police Negotiators, by decision of the Chief and will join the Hellenic Police Negotiators Team, to cover business needs nationwide.
