In the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Venizeli Hospital of Heraklion, the 17-year-old student from Athens is still being treated, who during her five-day school trip and after consuming, probably, a portion of butter, suffered an allergic shock and seizure.

According to the director of the ICU of the hospital, Anestis Kiulpalis, after 15 days, they started to stop the sedative drugs in the girl, in order to see his neurological condition.

“In the girl, we started to stop the sedatives because the intracranial pressures have dropped to levels that are within the normal range. We are slowly stopping the sedation, in order to check the child’s neurological condition” emphasized Mr. Kioulpalis, who pointed out that this will be achieved within the next few days, when the sedation effect of the drugs will be zero.

“We estimate that it will take a few days for the levels of the drugs to drop to zero” pointed out the director of the ICU of the Venizeli Hospital, who added that immediately after “we will proceed with the brain viability tests, i.e. to detect whether there is brain death or Zoe”.
