Referring to the decision of acting mayor Gergi Goro to remain in his position even though he initially announced that he would resign, the brother of the elected mayor Heimarras stated that “Mr. Goro cannot breathe unless he gets permission from Mr. Rama.”
He even repeated his brother’s suggestion that if he is not mayor himself, who has been elected, then another elected person from his faction should take the position.
He also stated that the way the Albanian prime minister acted was nothing more than “a pirouette in view of the European Council that will take place in mid-January”.
“Unfortunately, we have an unreliable interlocutor” said Leonardos Beleris, estimating that Goro will remain in his position “as long as Mr. Rama wants”.
He also emphasized that the Prime Minister of Albania prefers to sacrifice the future of his people and that Albania does not enter the EU, than to lose the municipality of Heimarra.
He added that his moves are due to the fact that there have been “forgeries at the highest level and unfortunately under Mr Rama’s umbrella many people have to be protected”.
