In 2000, the students of the Lehovo High School and High School, by doing fundraisers, try to collect money to help the 15-year-old Panagiotis from their village to deal with his hospital expenses and also to be operated on in a hospital abroad after a serious accident he had with his bicycle and from which he had the effect of suffering a universal disability.
The young man’s case moved the community of Amyntaios Florina and everyone contributes to the students’ fundraiser. Someone from the group of teenagers had the idea to propose to Vassilis Karras to sing in a concert they will organize for the financial aid and support of the hospitalization of the young Panagiotis. Stavros Moustakas, a classmate of Panagiotis at the time, was in the four-member delegation of teenagers from the village and remembers that they visited Vassilis Karras in the “village of Peace”, outside Thessaloniki. “I made the proposal for the concert, I described to him the situation, the needs that exist and that the purpose of the concert is to collect money for Panagiotis to go abroad.”
Vassilis Karras immediately accepted, stating that he would sing without any financial compensation. Vassilis Karras’ concert for the teenager Panagiotis was given in the summer of 2000 and after the events of Prespa it was the event of the summer in the West. Macedonia. The singer, accompanied by members of his family, visited Panagiotis’ house the day before the concert, spoke with his parents and expressed his support for their struggle. Stavros Moustakas reports that on the day of the concert the singer announced to the organizing committee that “his musicians have decided to play for charity”.
Unfortunately, however, the young Panagiotis passed away some time later due to the rapid deterioration of his health.
