Emotion at the funeral delivered by the Artistic Director of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Greece – Tomorrow’s burial in his hometown, Kokkinohori Kavala – What was his last wish
Famous artists, politicians and friends of the folk singer came to say goodbye to him in the folk pilgrimage. Among them, the secretary of the ND Co-op, Stavros Kalafatis, the mayor of Volos and his best man, Achilleas Beos, Yiannis Zouganelis, Lena Zeugara, Petros Iakovides, Konstantinos Argyros and Angela Dimitriou, among others.
The Artistic Director of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Greece Evangelos Arabatzis and friend of Vassilis Karras, who delivered the eulogy, saidas his last wish for a big concert with 3,000 musicians, will come true in July.
Angela Dimitriou, visibly moved, said “we were like brothers with Vassilis, it’s a very strange day”.
Petros Iakovides emphasized how much help Vassilis Karras provided to young people. “He was very helpful to young artists, through advice, in the shops.”
“The void is hard to fill, the whole artistic world and not, is even poorer,” said Lampis Ellinios, with whom they shared the dance floor from the first steps of their career.
The “present” was also given by the new mayor of Thessaloniki, Stelios Angeloudis. As he stated, “Today is a difficult day for Thessaloniki, we wish a good heaven. We owe him love, respect and above all many of the unforgettable moments he gave us.”
The body of Vassilis Karras is expected to remain in public pilgrimage until late at night as in Thessaloniki about 35 tourist buses with fans of the folk artist are expected as well as people who will arrive by rail, but also private cars to say goodbye to him.
It is recalled that his burial will take place tomorrow in his hometown, Kokkinohori Kavala.
