“I feel relief,” the 16-year-old claimed during his statement to the juvenile investigator
He vividly described what he was living at home the 16-year-old from Kalyvia who murdered his father, but was released without parole with the agreement of the investigator and prosecutor.
“For so many years I only saw wood. They locked me in the closet without water and food”, argued the young parricide in his apology according to ERT. His words about abusive behavior by his father were confirmed by the perpetrator’s mother and brother.
“What I did was bad, but I feel relieved. I and my family are no longer afraid” are said to have been the words of the 16-year-old to the juvenile investigatorwhich, with the consent of the prosecutor, reached a decision – a “station” for the Greek judicial data.
“It is a rarity in the judicial annals of the country that a person charged with premeditated murder is released after questioning. The fact that a joint investigator and prosecutor reached this decision means that facts were brought to their attention which were so important that even this gravity of the act of homicide recedes”said the LawyerDimitris Bolis.
The decision of the two judicial officers shows how there was no trace of doubt about the minor’s personality but also about the abuse he suffered. Furthermore, they assessed that he is neither a fugitive suspect, nor capable of committing a new crime in the future.
