Today Friday, the 44-year-old Norwegian citizen, who is being held for the murder of the 32-year-old police officer, in the early hours of the morning, in a bar on Katsimidis Street, in Thessaloniki, will be brought before the criminal prosecution prosecutor.

The 44-year-old remains in the custody of the Thessaloniki Security and the preliminary investigation of the Crimes Against Life Department is in full progress, by gathering witness statements, while examining the amount of alcohol he had consumed.

According to information, the perpetrator lived permanently in Greece and it seems that he was a well-known customer at the store. The murder took place around 4:30 in the morning and, according to witnesses, the 44-year-old man had an argument with the policeman’s best man.

Following the verbal episode, the Norwegian wounded the best man in the leg with a knife and then the 32-year-old intervenedwho was having fun off duty at the same bar, resulting in being attacked with the same knife.

The police officer who served in the “incorruptible” of EL.AS., suffered trauma to the left cervical regionwhile his death was instantaneous.

Police officers who were in an adjacent building, where the headquarters of the MAT is located, were immediately notified and arrested the perpetrator.

“I did not intend to kill” the 44-year-old allegedly testified during the preliminary police investigation, while he declared that he was devastated when he learned of the policeman’s death.

He claimed to be under the influence of alcohol.
