What the pulmonology professor said about the outbreak of flu and coronavirus cases
“We will have to learn to live with the coronavirus and we will have to make the necessary adjustments at the time of need,” said pulmonology professor Thanasis Vasilakopoulos to SKAIon the occasion of the outbreak of cases that is observed and has caused “asphyxiation” in hospitals.
“The virus lives among us and when there is an outbreak we should take measures” he said and added as the first measure prevention and immediate vaccination, with priority to vulnerable groups estimated according to him at 2 million people.
According to Mr. Vasilakopoulos the number of people who have been vaccinated amounts to 130,000 which translates to less than 10%.
On the contrary, as he said many more have been vaccinated with the flu vaccine. “In the fall, 5 people died from the flu, while 60 people die from the coronavirus every week,” he pointed out indicatively.
He explained that the number of people who died from coronavirus belonged to vulnerable groups.
Regarding the masks, he noted that at least the vulnerable should wear them, while in the event that they test positive for the virus, they should use antiviral drugs to minimize complications.
