The Union of Police Employees of Thessaloniki, representing the Police Officers serving in the Prefecture of Thessaloniki, with a letter to the Mayor of Thessaloniki Stelios Angeloudis proposes the naming of the street as “Deputy Georgiou Lyggeridis” street.

“The violence and the targeting of police officers has gone beyond all limits,” the president of the Greek Anti-Corruption Commission, Theodoros Tsairidis, told GRTimes. “This will be the first of a series of actions we are planning but we have to start somewhere,” he emphasized himself.

The policemen they do not indicate any particular street preference.

“We asked for it from the Municipality of Thessaloniki because Lyggeridis lived here”, said gen. secretary of the National Institute of Health, Giorgos Hatzopoulos. “Some street in front of a police station or near his house would be the best, we think,” says Mr. Tsairidis.
