“Accuracy is the biggest issue for households and checks will continue” he emphasized to SKAI the Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas stressing that yesterday a fine was imposed on an air conditioner company that was speculating.

The businesses that are fined, as the minister said, then they have to adjust their prices.

“We will move forward in the first quarter of the year in structural reforms which will help de-escalate the prices of products on the shelves such as detergents, household cleaners and nappies” announced and added that in this direction yesterday there was a meeting with the representatives of the supermarkets to whom the objectives of the ministry were presented, with the primary objective from March to reduce the prices of the products that were unreasonably high.

At the same time, tests continue for baby milk. “The reform that allowed it to be sold in supermarkets has not brought the corresponding results and the price is unjustified” noted the minister who said that in this direction checks are being made on two companies for unfair profit. “Soon we will announce the results. We will announce administrative measures to see the prices of baby milk fall”said Mr. Skrekas.

When asked if the fines are being collected, he said that proof of collection of thousands of euros has already been filed by the ministry.

“Controls will continue but the aim is to reduce prices on the shelves”noted Mr. Skrekas, adding that after September the price increases have almost dropped to zero.
