In standby mode has put the bodies involved in projects and actions to deal with risks from dangerous weather phenomena, the Autonomous Directorate of Civil Protection of Region of Central Macedonia, following the emergency worsening weather bulletin issued by EMY/EMK and forecasting weather changes from late Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening with the main features being heavy rain and thunderstorms and gusty southerly winds.

In more detail, according to the EMY, heavy rains and storms are predicted for the Epiphany from late afternoon in the Ionian Islands, Epirus, western Sterea and western Peloponnese, while southerly winds of intensity 7 to 8 Beaufort will blow from noon in the Ionian and in the afternoon in the Aegean, which during the night will strengthen in places up to 9 Beaufort.

On Sunday, the heavy rains and storms will continue until the afternoon in western Greece (Ionian, Epirus, western Sterea, western and southern Peloponnese) and will weaken in the evening. From early in the morning, heavy rains and storms at times will affect eastern Macedonia, Thrace and possibly the islands of the eastern Aegean in places with a recession from the afternoon. The winds will blow in the seas from the south southwest of intensity 7 to 8 and temporarily in the morning 9 Beaufort in places.

At the same time, the Autonomous Directorate of Civil Protection of the Region of Central Macedonia recommends that citizens be especially careful, ensuring that self-protection measures are taken against risks arising from the occurrence of severe weather phenomena and to be careful in their movements.
