The doctor and president of EINAP, Matina Pagonis, gave advice on the return of students to schools in the midst of an increase in cases of coronavirus and flu, speaking to SKAI and on the show Kalimera with Giorgos Autias.

“If the child is not feeling well, the mother does not send him to school, because even if he has been tested, it may come out positive in a day or two, and if he goes to school he may spread the disease to the other children. The children who will go to school take with them antiseptic that they already know how to use. And the teachers and professors to open and close the windows in the classrooms. Also, parents should tell their children not to hug and kiss their classmates,” said Ms. Pagoni.

He pointed out that the transmission has increased a lot recently and the cases in the last week are up more than 40%. “It’s the season when we have a cocktail of flu, coronavirus, viruses and strep,” he said and recommended caution for older people with underlying illnesses.

He added that the elderly still have time to get the flu shot, because not many have. “It takes two weeks to make antibodies, but they’re getting it done,” he said.

Mrs. Pagoni also mentioned that the new subvariant of the coronavirus does not cause severe pneumonia, it is in the upper respiratory tract and the clinical condition of the patients is treatable.

He added that there is pressure on the health system and for the next 10 days we will see an increase in cases.

Regarding Adonis Georgiadis, who assumed the duties of Minister of Health, he said that “it is for special missions in this faction, he is the man who should have come there”.
