A total of 485 calls were received by the Fire Service Operations Center due to the occurrence of gale force winds accompanied by heavy rains and thunderstorms in areas of the country from yesterday until 18:00 today.

• In the Attica Region, 196 calls were made and 102 tree cuttings and 41 object removals were carried out.
• In the Region of Western Greece, 101 calls were made and 56 tree cuttings and 9 object removals were carried out.
• In the Region of Central Greece, 45 calls were made and 37 tree cuttings were carried out.
• In the Peloponnese Region, 32 calls were made and 22 tree cuttings and 2 object removals were carried out.
• In the Region of Central Macedonia, 37 calls were made and 16 tree cuttings and 2 object removals were carried out.
• In the Region of Western Macedonia, 11 calls were made and 8 tree cuttings were carried out.
• In the Region of Eastern Macedonia, 5 calls were made and 4 tree fellings and 1 object removal were carried out.
• In the Region of Thessaly, 15 calls were made and 10 tree cuttings were carried out
• In the Ionian Islands Region 15 calls and 10 tree fellings and 1 object removal were carried out.
• In the Region of Epirus, 11 calls were made and 8 tree fellings, 2 water pumpings and 1 object removal were carried out
• In the Northern Aegean Region, 15 calls were made and 10 tree fellings, 1 object removal and 3 water pumpings were carried out
• In the Region of Crete, 2 calls were made and 1 tree felling and 1 water pumping were carried out.
It is recalled that according to the updated Emergency Weather Deterioration Bulletin (EDEK) issued today, Sunday, January 7, 2024 by the National Meteorological Service (EMY), the heavy rains and storms:
a) will continue until late in the evening in the Ionian, Epirus, western Sterea and possibly the western and southern Peloponnese.
b) at times they will affect Thrace and possibly eastern Macedonia and the islands of the eastern Aegean.
A gradual subsidence of the phenomena is expected from Sunday evening onwards.
