In addition to classics such as gin and tonic, dry martini, negroni and caipirinha, those who now go up to the 23rd floor of the Tivoli Mofarrej hotel will find options such as anger, laziness, lust, gluttony, envy, avarice and pride on the drink menu. These are original creations developed by bartender Heitor Marin. The idea is to mix aromas and flavors that match the descriptions of each of the sins.
Among them, the drinks ire, gluttony and avarice appeal to drier palates. While the first contains gin, strega liqueur, dry vermouth and orange bitters, the gula mixes rum, bourbon whiskey, tequila, angostura, almond syrup and cherry. The avarice is the driest of all, with gin, wasabi syrup, green liqueur, pasteurized egg whites and lemon juice.
For those who prefer softer options, there is preguiça, with sugar, lemon juice, angostura, sparkling water and amarena cherry; lust, more critical, with sparkling wine, gin and cucumber; and the super sweet envy, which contains 12 year old whiskey, raspberry syrup, lemon juice, Aperol, pasteurized egg whites and edible flower.
If you’re going to choose just one sin to commit, the tip is superb, with vodka, ginger syrup, lemon juice and Cynar with the smoky scent of Scotch whiskey — worth the penance (R$49).
“These drinks seek to interpret the nuances of each capital sin, proposing a fun sensorial game and, at the same time, a personalized service”, says Marin, who also developed, in partnership with an astrologer, another drink menu based on the signs of the zodiac. “People come to drink, but they love this thing of being able to choose what they identify with most.”
