The Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, welcomed on Friday in his office at the Athens City Hall, the President of SEGAS Sofia Sakorafa, the first vice-president, Costas Kenteris as well as the general director of the Federation, Sotiris Kyranakos.

Mr. Doukas was informed in detail about the two major road races: the Half Marathon, which is also the most immediate event, as it will be held on Sunday, March 10 and is dedicated to the memory of Mikis Theodorakis, but also the Authentic Marathon.

The Half Marathon is an event that takes place exclusively within the limits of the Municipality of Athens with a large participation of the citizens of the capital.

Haris Doukas expressed his wish that the Municipality’s cooperation with SEGAS be strengthened with more synergies of social and environmental interest, as well as joint sports activities.

The Mayor of Athens pointed out: “The Athens Half Marathon is a great celebration dedicated to sports, social solidarity and international friendship. It is a constant meeting point for runners from Athens and the whole world, who run for a unique experience under the Attic light, in the shadow of the Parthenon. We are giving an appointment again this year, at the beginning of spring.”

The president of SEGAS, Sofia Sakorafa, presented Mr. Doukas with the collector’s medal of 40 years of the Authentic Marathon and the clothing of the national athletics team.
