The shelters for the homeless of the municipality of Thessaloniki will operate with extended hours from tomorrow, Saturday until Monday, January 22, as part of measures to protect vulnerable citizens from the cold.
Specifically, the following areas will operate:
- the Homeless Dormitory (Andreou Georgiou 5 former 13 tel. 2310528811), from 17.00 until the next day at 09:00
- and the Open Homeless Day Center (Monastiriou 62, tel. 2313316615), 24 hours a day.
The premises will be attended by specialized personnel of the structures, such as a social worker, nurse, doctor, etc.
At the same time, to protect vulnerable groups, they will remain open on Monday, January 22:
- two branches of KAPIS,
- the 4th annex at 42 Gr. Lambraki Street
- and the 5th at 27 Alexandreias Street, from 8 am to 8 pm.
Throughout the duration of the emergency measures, with the cooperation of the municipal police department, blankets, sleeping bags, croissants and water will be distributed to the homeless, while there is cooperation with organizations active in homelessness (NGOs, EKAB).
