The appellate trial for the high-profile case of kidnapping and sexual abuse of the 10-year-old girl in Thessaloniki, in June 2020, has been postponed until the end of the year. with the main accused being a 37-year-old (today) woman, who was sentenced to a multi-year prison sentence at first instance and remains imprisoned.

The case was scheduled to start today at the Mixed Court of Appeal of Thessaloniki, but it was postponed (for the second time) because the second defendant, the 37-year-old’s accomplice, was absent for health reasons.

In December 2021, the Criminal Court had sentenced the main protagonist to a total of 21 years and 7 months in prison (with 20 years suspended). She had been found guilty of abducting a minor for the purpose of treating him in immoral pursuits, rape, sexual intercourse with a minor, exposure, supply and possession of drugs for personal use only.

Her 44-year-old (today) co-accused was sentenced to 4 years in prison for complicity in the robbery, with his sentence suspended pending the Court of Appeal.
