At the same time, they are also advancing with rapid steps flood protection projects, with the anti-flood shielding of the wider Hellinikon area and the coastal zone – as has been announced – being a top priority.

The stream bed is released, with the aim of revitalizing the local ecosystem and creating a green recreation area. The length of the stream is 3 km and the maximum excavation depth is up to 8 meters. Excavations for the anti-flood works are 60% complete. Its completion is expected in July 2024. In addition, 88% of the excavations and 65% of the concreting of the central rainwater collectors have been completed. The stream zone is turned into a green recreation area. In full progress are the demarcation works and the stream of the Airport or Evryalis, as it was known in the past. Both streams were for decades suffocated within the narrow limits of the former airport, but also of the extensive urban development on the outskirts of Ymittos.

At the same time, the construction of the roads within Elliniko has begun, with underground works in the area of ​​the shopping center that will be built on Vouliagmeni Avenue, as well as excavations on the beach front and in the area where the houses will be built. The road works will be completed in the second quarter of 2026.
