“There is no project that does not bring disruption,” he pointed out the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Nikos Tachiaos, speaking to radio station Status about his work Fly Over.

According to the deputy minister, the project will be completed in 3.5 years, pointing out that what the world is seeing now is the preliminary work.

“The project will last 3.5 years, that is clear. Nothing to do with the Metro, preliminary work is progressing very quickly. People will know that work is being done when they see bulldozers pouring concrete. The construction site will be moved from the forest side to a two-lane width… no other occupation is planned, except for the bridges phase. No node will ever go down. Neither the traffic will stop nor the junctions.’

Mr. Tachiaos emphasized that a traffic impact study is not a prerequisite for a project. He also emphasized that he understands the citizens’ indignation at the disruption of their daily lives, noting at the same time that “if the project was not done, we would have this situation in 2-3 years”.

When asked about the issue of the bicycle path on Nikis Avenue, he emphasized: “Let the city discuss it, I have no opinion. The Municipality should take responsibility. We are not involved in such matters, let the Municipality decide”.
