A total of 1,003 fines for violations of the Road Traffic Code were imposed by the Traffic Police on drivers in Thessaloniki in just two days, according to the official data of the service.

The Traffic Directorate of Thessaloniki, paying particular attention to the facilitation and protection of all users of the road networks (pedestrians and vehicles), to the observance of the Road Traffic Code, as well as to the reduction of traffic accidents, sets up traffic control crews and carries out targeted police actions in various areas of Thessaloniki.

In this context, during the two days of January 26 and 27, 2024, police officers of the Thessaloniki Traffic Sub-Directorate carried out checks on vehicles on central streets of the city and confirmed a total of (1,003) violations, as follows:

  • 36 violations related to the emission of noise beyond the permitted limit from the exhausts of two-wheelers and vehicles,
  • 34 offenses related to driving under the influence of alcohol and
  • 206 violations related to exceeding the speed limit,

The prescribed administrative penalties were imposed on the offending drivers, while similar actions will continue in other areas of the prefecture.
