Arrest of 13 people for specific offenses related to drugs, weapons and accepting and disposing of proceeds of crime:
After appropriate use of information, it was established that a group of people commit thefts of wallets and mobile phones, mainly at the expense of tourists, removal of bicycles and also breaking windows of parked vehicles in the wider area of ​​Athens, while at the same time staying in a hotel, in the rooms of which they store stolen goods and narcotics , which they distribute in the wider area of ​​Attica.
A coordinated operation followed, where on 27/1 they were arrested, while in the investigations carried out, in total, among others, the following were found and confiscated:
- stab,
- mobile phones,
- bicycles,
- 419.2 grams of cannabis,
- 400 euros,
- 18 grams of heroin and
- 1 scale.
Arrest of 2 people in the context of a gang preparing false documents, one of the two is additionally charged with drugs:
After appropriate utilization of information, the action of -2- individuals (gang) who jointly draw up and channel fake travel documents (identities, passports, etc.) to various interested parties – foreigners – was ascertained.
Following a coordinated operation on 01-26-2024, they were arrested, while in the searches that followed in a house and a shop, the following were found – among others – and confiscated:
- 1 fully equipped laboratory for counterfeiting travel documents,
- mobile phones,
- printers,
- laptops,
- laminating machine,
- 1.9 grams of cannabis,
- fake IDs,
- 2,925 euros and
- multitude of identities of dubious authenticity.
Arrest of 3 people – in the context of setting up a gang – who have committed fraud against citizens, while one of the three is additionally accused of drugs. Eight cases were investigated.
The action of the gang was noticed by the Police of the Athens Security Sub-Directorate who, in the morning hours of 01-26-2024, as part of a coordinated operation, located and arrested the people involved in their shared home. A case file was filed against them for the case-by-case offenses of fraud and violation of drug legislation, while in the investigations that followed, among other things, were found and confiscated:
- 1.1 grams of cannabis,
- 100 euros and
- 1 scale.
From the pre-investigative material collected, it emerged the involvement of the above in -8- cases of fraud against employees of mini markets or kiosks.
Arrest of one person for vehicle theft and drug possession and one person for drug possession
Following a preliminary investigation, it emerged that the first person was involved in vehicle theft from the Athens area.
An investigation followed in the morning hours of 01-26-2024 in a house where he lives with another person and they were arrested for theft and possession of drugs. A car, 0.8 grams of cannabis and a mobile phone were found and seized.
Investigation of thefts, robberies and foster care
At the same time, regular procedure files were filed against a total of 25 more people, for case-by-case thefts of houses, shops, vehicles and robberies, while a total of 20 cases of thefts from shops, houses and vehicles, 4 robberies and one case of foster care were investigated.
In particular, in the context of an ongoing investigation – preliminary investigation and after appropriate use of research data and forensic data of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, it was discovered:
- 9 thefts from inside houses in Athens, P. Faliro, Byron and Kallithea,
- 5 shop thefts in Athens, Agios Dimitrios and Petralona,
- 5 vehicle thefts, in Athens, Piraeus, Tavros and Kaisariani,
- 4 robberies, in the area of ​​Kypseli, Athens and Byron and
- a case of fostering a person in the area of ​​Cholargos, against whom convictions were pending.
In two cases, it emerged that those involved used a vehicle that they had stolen in the previous year and carried out -2- gas station robberies. Their vehicle was abandoned following a collision, while in a relevant search of the perpetrators’ vehicle, whose details have been identified, the following were found and confiscated:
- 1 pistol,
- 1 full face and
- 1 mobile phone.
Those arrested with the case files filed against them were taken to the competent prosecuting authority, while the case files of the regular procedure will be submitted competently.
