THE traffic ban on heavy-duty vehicles on the National Highway from Malgara to Athens, from today at 8 pm until Wednesday at 10 amit was decided in meeting of the “AVGI” Bad Weather Risk Assessment Committeeas announced the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vassilis Kikilias. At the same time, Mr. Kikilias pointed out that they are in communication with the Ministry of Education, with the mayors of Evia and Boeotia, as well as regional governors, regarding the non-operation of schools for tomorrow Tuesday and the conduct of distance education. In addition, Mr. Kikilias announced that it will be done recommendation for teleworking tomorrow, Tuesday, in the public and private sector in Evia, Boeotia but also in the municipalities of the Attica region, and specifically in the municipalities of Mandra, Idyllia, Phyli, Acharnon, Dionysos, Kifisia, Oropou, Penteli and Pallini.

As Mr. Kikilias said, the figures “are always revised in relation to the development of bad weather. At the moment, ESKEDIK is communicating with the mayors. We have already contacted the regional governors and of course the presidency has been informed” and he added that the recommendation to the citizens for tomorrow is, if there is no reason, to avoid moving with their vehicles in the basin of Attica, but also on the part of the National Road, where traffic for heavy vehicles will be prohibited.

“The recommendation for tomorrow for all those who have no reason to move is that cars should not circulate even in the basin of Attica -and of course on the part of the National Road I mentioned above- and to be careful, because there are forecasts for possible snow storms at times and for extreme winds of 9 and 10 Beaufort. I think that those of us who can avoid our movements for this short period of time, approximately 24 hours, with a review of how things will be on Wednesday morning”, said Mr. Kikilias.

For Cretewhere the duration of the bad weather seems to be a bit longer, Mr. Kikilias pointed out that caution is needed and recommended avoiding travel in areas of the prefecture of Chania and Rethymno.

“There is a special plan for Crete which concerns the Fire BrigadeELAS but also the Armed Forces and Civil Protection”, noted Mr. Kikilias.

“As I said yesterday, we must show responsibility, and seriousness and try to be careful for these next hours. Even if something changes, there will be another update”, concluded Mr. Kikilias.
