The farmers of Central Macedonia are preparing a large demonstration ahead of its premiere Agrotica in Thessaloniki, on Thursday, February 1.

In accordance with thestival.grat a meeting held on Tuesday morning at Thessaloniki Police Station between representatives of the farmers of Central Macedonia and the General Police Director of Thessaloniki, Lt.-Gen. George Papadopoulos, the upcoming farmers’ mobilizations were discussed at the premiere of the agricultural exhibition. According to reports, the meeting took place in a particularly positive atmosphere and lasted a little over an hour.

The motion tabled by the eight-member farmers’ representation, and accepted as the farmers saidis that approximately 300 tractors, as well as beekeepers’ trucks, will make a motorized march from areas of Central Macedonia to the center of Thessaloniki, specifically the site of the International Exhibition of Thessaloniki. Farmers from the Halkidiki, Serres, Pella, Pieria, Kilkis and Imathia.

How will the farmers move?

The farmers are planning to head towards Thessaloniki from three different directions at the same time, presence of police forces. Specifically, there will be a descent to Thessaloniki from Serres, Chalkidona and from the eastern side of the city. Although it was not mentioned where the agricultural vehicles participating in the march will be parked, the farmers note that a solution has been found for this issue as well.

Still, as they say the farmers, want to submit a resolution with their requests to him Minister of Rural Development, Lefteri Avgenakis and stage a protest throughout the exhibition, voicing their industry’s issues.

Farmers emphasize that they don’t want to cause a traffic problem on the streets and at the same time they invite the citizens to participate in the protests.
