A patrol boat of the Coast Guard spotted last night, after being informed by Open Sea Ship LS-EL.AKT., a high-speed boat with a sufficient number of passengers in the sea area west of Chondros in Symi.

The patrol vessel used light and sound signals, but the speedboat operators did not comply, carrying out dangerous maneuvers with the aim of ramming the L.S.-EL.AKT vessel.
A pursuit ensued resulting in the immobilization of the speedboat and the arrest of its two foreign operators.
The crew of the patrol vessel L.S.-EL.AKT. collected twenty-three (23) foreign passengers, who were transported to the port of Symi.
According to their statement, they had started from Datsa Turkey by paying the sum of six thousand euros each for their transport to Greece, while they identified the traffickers.
The high-speed boat was seized by the Symi Port Authority, which is conducting the preliminary investigation.
