He prepared it with sunflower oil and other substances and distributed it in various regions of Attica
The Directorate of Economic Police arrested a 48-year-old man yesterday in an area of Western Attica for violating the legislation regarding food adulteration.
According to ELAS, there was a complaint and a parallel combined pre-trial investigation, from which it emerged that the 48-year-old had a place in an area of Western Attica, where, after a quantity of a special substance was procured from Northern Greece, he mixed it with sunflower oil and proceeded to prepare oil that it was disguised as olive oil, which was then traded in various regions of Attica.
In the context of a coordinated operation that took place with the assistance of the Order Restoration sub-directorate, Crime Suppression Prevention Teams, as well as the Unified Food Control Agency, searches were carried out at the home, business and storage area of the person involved, where – among other things – the following were found and seized:
* 13,960 liters of sunflower oil
* 6,332 liters of substance resembling olive oil
* 70 liters of transparent liquid with an olive scent
* 720 empty metal containers
* 1,750 euros
* 2 vehicles and
* loads of stickers and blending tools.
The arrested person, with the case filed against him, was taken to the competent prosecutor.
