Accused of HIV transmission to his partner, will sit today in the dock of the Mixed Jury Court Kos, 43 years old from Rhodes.

The case went to court after a summons filed by the 43-year-old’s partner against him and resulted in his arrest and bringing him to justice.

He was charged with a felony for grievous bodily harm against a partner and after his apologyon February 24, 2023, the 43-year-old was adjudged a temporary prisoner and sent to prison.

The referral to trial was made at the will of the Criminal Council of Rhodes and according to this, the 43-year-old, the period from the end of July 2020 until July 2022, that he cohabited with his partner, although he knew that he was a carrier of the HIV virus (AIDS) he had unprotected sex with her almost every day, even though he knew that in this way he would transmitted the virus, as it did.

As stated in the will of the Council of Injuries of Rhodes, among other things, “he also knew that this disease is severe and incurable and entails permanent disability, as it suppresses for life the functioning of the immune system and prevents the sufferer from using his body, like a healthy person, since without taking daily heavy medication (with serious side effects for the body, such as coronary heart disease, dyslipidemia, lipodystrophy syndrome, diabetes, etc.) even a simple daily virus can bring death to the sufferer, while for the rest of his life he should take precautions so as not to transmit the virus to others.”

The trial was set for today, February 5while the defense attorney is Mr. Yiannis Christodoulou.
