A 20-year-old man was arrested for dangerous driving in Thessaloniki, who in the early hours of Sunday, in order to avoid a traffic control, reversed and caused damage to a police vehicle. Earlier he was spotted by O.E.P.T.A. police officers. of the Thessaloniki Traffic Directorate, to move on a central road of the city, developing excessive speed and making dangerous maneuvers.

The arrest took place in the context of the intensive controls carried out by the Thessaloniki Traffic Directorate to prevent traffic accidents and ensure quality of life in the urban complex of the municipality.

It is characteristic that, only during the night hours yesterday and the day before yesterday, after the checks that focused on limiting the effect of noise pollution caused by vehicles & two-wheelers and on the fight against improvised competitions-demonstration of ability, it was confirmed in total:

– 13 offenses for driving without prudence and caution

– 27 offenses for driving under the influence of alcohol

– 43 offenses for lack of an effective muffler, suitable for reducing engine noise and for exhaust noise beyond the permitted limit

– 12 violations of E.D.X drivers. of them (TAXI) and

– 177 violations for breaking the speed limit.

In the meantime, a total of 2,933 drivers were checked last Friday and Saturday and 1,176 violations were confirmed, of which 613 related to illegal parking within the urban complex of Thessaloniki.

The Thessaloniki Traffic Directorate will continue in the future to carry out similar checks on road networks throughout the year.
