A case with many question marks, at the center of which they are two Turkish nationals, the authorities have been investigating for the last few days.
They are two young men aged 22 and 27, who were arrested at noon on Monday by police officers of the Security Sub-Directorate of Chania, in the Akrotiri area.

According to information from “Kathimerini”, the case involved officials of the National Intelligence Service (EYP), who had recently put the young Turks under surveillance.

They were arrested in an ultra-luxurious rented villa where they were staying, on Tersanas beach, close to Chania airport.

Inside, the police found a 9 mm pistol, as well as 15 cartridges of the same caliber. A small amount of a narcotic (hexahydrocannabinol) was also seized.

A case was filed against them for violation of the law on weapons and drugs and they were taken to court. They are currently being held at the Chania Police Station. The police also seized other items – evidence from the house, which are being investigated, as well as a Porsche Cayenne car that they used for their transportation.

The two arrested allegedly came to the country in the first ten days of Septembercrossing the Greece-Turkey border at the Evros.

On the same day, they submitted an asylum request to the Reception and Identification Center (KYT) of the Prison, stating that they are in danger from the regime in Turkey. The young men were placed under surveillance by the National Intelligence Service and at noon on Monday it was decided to arrest them by police officers from the Chania Security Sub-Directorate.

One of the scenarios being considered is that the two arrested are involved in cases of trafficking of illegal immigrants.
