The headquarters of ELAS issued a statement regarding the rural mobilizations in the center of Athens, which ended this morning, with the movement of vehicles having been restored on the central roads.

As emphasized in the relevant announcement, during the mobilizations “…a network of traffic, order and security measures was implemented, in order to ensure the fundamental right of citizens to assemble, without, however, unduly disrupting the social and economic life of the city”.

At the same time, the headquarters of ELAS notes that the decisive factors for the achievement of the above goals were the absolute cooperation and the cool attitude shown by the participants in the mobilizations, as well as the understanding and cooperation of the citizens.

The relevant announcement in detail:

“After the completion of the rural mobilizations in the center of Athens, traffic on the main roads has been restored.

During these, the Greek Police implemented a network of traffic, order and security measures, in order to ensure the fundamental right of citizens to assemble, without, however, unduly disrupting the social and economic life of the city, in accordance with the provisions of PD 73/ 2020 on the regulation of public outdoor gatherings.

Determining factors for the achievement of the above objectives were the absolute cooperation and the cool attitude shown by the participants in the mobilizations as well as the understanding and cooperation of the citizens, who implemented our recommendations, thus contributing significantly to the maintenance of social peace and order.

At the same time, the police officers managed the situation calmly and with a professional approach, demonstrating absolute respect for the rights and freedoms of citizens, confirming the commitment of the Greek Police to maintaining order and protecting citizens.

The Greek Police will continue to work daily adapting to the needs of the times in order to strengthen mutual trust with the citizens, for a society of respect, justice and mutual understanding”.
