Milkshakes live an explosion of flavors in SP, with versions of Whey Protein, cachaça and pudding

by

They have been in fashion since the 1960s, when the first American-style cafeterias were opened in São Paulo. In the beginning, there wasn’t much choice: it was chocolate, strawberry or vanilla — and look at that.

Smeared with industrialized syrup, the thick glass cups brought the mixture of ice cream beaten with milk, almost always with the right to “chorinho” in the blender cup.

Today, the story is different. The milkshake menus are increasingly varied — and greedy — and they even have a brand. In August of last year, the Lanchonete da Cidade chain created the Urbana Milshakeria brand, which works inside part of the stores and has recipes signed by chefs Jefferson and Janaína Rueda.

Both in the traditional houses and in the new networks specialized in milkshakes, where the options of flavors can exceed a hundred, the assemblies that go beyond the limits of the glasses and incorporate other ingredients, such as stuffed cookies, cakes, sweet farofas, confectionery and lots of whipped cream.
