Doctors of the World clarify that the organization’s services are mistakenly mentioned as the location of the sad incident with the dead fetus in Exarchia.

In particular, the Doctors of the World organization states that their services are housed in the Open Polyclinic located at Sapphos 12, in Athens, and have nothing to do with the facilities of another medical voluntary organization with which they are confused by the information in the media.

It is recalled that yesterday at noon an employee of a blocking company, during work on the drainage system of a building on Solonos Street, where the offices of the NGO “Doctors Without Borders” are located, found a dead fetus.

The employee, he claimed, informed the NGO officials about it, who told him that they would take care of it and place the body in a box.

At approximately 18:30 in the afternoon, the employee of the blocking company went to the police station of Exarchia and informed the police about his gruesome find, while according to police sources he also had photos that confirmed his words.

The police collected the fetus, which was about five months old, late at night.

Officers will examine key figures from offices in the surrounding area to coordinate the next stage of investigations. Among the persons to be examined are a social worker and a gynecologist who work voluntarily in offices located near the place where the fetus was found in a well.

It is being considered that a woman who had moved into the building miscarried and flushed the fetus down the toilet.
