“Handbrake” on Metro, Electric and trams – Work stoppage on buses – Ships tied up in ports – The taxi strike continues
The country will be on strike on Wednesday, February 28, due to the 24-hour strike that ADEDY has called for the anniversary of the tragedy in Tempi, as a result of which transportation will be paralyzed and problems will arise in the movement of the public.
In particular, the following are participating in the strike mobilization:
- Cab
- Air Traffic Controllers
- Metro, Tram, ISAP
- Buses and Trolleys
- Educators
- OSE/Suburban
- Journalists
- Trains
Thus, the railways participate in the 24-hour strike, which will remain immobilized, including the suburban ones in Athens and Thessaloniki.

At the same time, the workers on the fixed-track means of Attica (lines 1, 2 and 3 of the metro and tram) also participate in the 24-hour strike.
Buses and trolleys
There will also be travel difficulties for those who travel by bus and trolley as the drivers of the means have announced two work stoppages. In particular, buses and trolleys will not operate on Wednesday 28/2 according to a decision of the OASA Workers’ Union.:
- From the start of the shift until 09:00 in the morning and
- From 21:00 at night until the end of the shift
Full restoration of traffic should be expected from 10 pm, while the last routes are expected to depart from the starting points around 8 pm.
No taxi tomorrow either
At the same time, Attiki will also be without taxis on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 due to the 48-hour strike announced by SATA from Tuesday.
The auditors’ strike is illegal and abusive
The strike announced by the air traffic controllers, who would participate in Wednesday’s strike actions, was deemed illegal and abusive.
Ships tied up
Ships will remain tied up in the ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio due to a strike by PENEN. The strike mobilization will start at 00:01 in the morning on Wednesday and will end at midnight of the same day.
Participation of OLME in the strike
OLME also participates in the 24-hour strike mobilization, which according to its announcement will hold a rally at 11:00.
Bank employees are also on strike
At the same time, the Federation of Banking Organizations of Greece (ΟΟΕ) announced its participation in tomorrow’s strike.
Working attitude of media workers
A work stoppage for public and private sector journalists from 10:00 to 14:00 was also decided by POESY (Panhellenic Federation of Editors’ Unions), through its announcement.
