Two military pyrotechnicians, one from the army and the other from the air force, are among the ten arrested, four of whom are in custody in Domokos and Larissa prisonsafter the coordinated anti-terrorist operation.
The operation that began yesterday morning and included raids on at least ten houses and searches in two penitentiaries brought out a “bass”, as they managed to solve five cases of attacks between them and the explosive-laden folder in Thessaloniki Courthouse.
The next step for experienced counter-terrorism officers is to map out the role each of those arrested played in the terror attacks. The two soldiers are said to have had no direct involvement in the organization “Revenge Conspiracy” but to assist in the supply of explosives to the seven defendants who, according to ELAS, participated in this particular organization.
Police sources say that two of the four arrested who are incarcerated in the jail may have a leadership role while the rest are said to have belonged to the execution arm.
The ten arrested – among them those imprisoned in prisons – are charged with, on a case-by-case basis, participation and membership in a terrorist organization, criminal support and provision of essential information, attempted murder, violence against officials and judicial persons, explosion, manufacture and possession of explosives, corruption foreign ownership and violation of weapons laws.
The five cases identified are:
1) dispatch of a folder laced with explosive material to the Thessaloniki Courthouse, which was found on 02-12-2024,
2) explosion of an improvised explosive device in a bank branch in Petralona on 25-01-2024,
3) explosion of an improvised explosive device on 11-13-2023 in a building complex in Kifissia, where a company is housed,
4) throwing a grenade on 07-08-2023 at a car owned by a prison officer, which was parked in the parking lot of an apartment building in Haidari and
5) throwing a grenade and exploding an improvised explosive device on 24-06-2023 in the yard of a house in Larissa.
Regarding the searches carried out in houses, weapons, bullets, quantities of explosives, mobile phones, computers, handwritten notes, small amounts of drugs, cars, motorcycles, etc. were located and confiscated.
Everything was immediately transferred to the forensic laboratories of ELAS in order to be examined.
The organized counter-terrorist operation was carried out as, according to information, there were fears of new strikes.
In the last period, the authorities were deeply concerned by the continuous threatening phone calls from unknown people about placing explosive devices in television stations, embassies and places of intense interest.
“Revolutionary gymnastics” or idlers who had nothing to do? This was the question of the officers of ELAS, who after the explosion of the explosive device in the Stadium, as they emphasized, there was no room for complacency.
