In Larissa Prisonshaving… enjoyed 11 years of freedom, including in London, a 33-year-old Albanian citizen returned yesterday.

The 33-year-old, according to a report by the “Eleftheria” newspaper, republished by onlarissa.gr had managed to escape from the Larissa Courthouse shortly before 2 o’clock in the afternoon on June 18, 2013, while earlier the Three-member Court of Criminal Appeal of Larissa had imposed a total prison sentence of 17 years on him, finding him guilty of the acts of gang, bodily harm and robbery, committed in Larissa by June to October 2012.

The 33-year-old, who was also known by the nickname Jambo or Dabo, due to his facial features and occasion, had developed into a “headache” of Larisa residents driving through Martali Street in the Larissa Customs area, to be finally arrested after an investigation by police officers Larissa Security Sub-Directorate.

After his escape, two European Arrest Warrants were issued by the Prosecutor’s Office of Larissa, with the result that, according to information from “E”, he was arrested in London on August 12, 2021 and two and a half years later, on February 22, 2024, he was handed over to the Greek Principles. Thus, the day before yesterday and in the context of a merger decision of the Single-Member Criminal Appeal Court… he returned to Larissa Prisons, in order to serve the sentence for the offenses for which he was convicted. After the merger decision, he is expected to serve 15 years in prison, i.e. until February 22, 2039.

According to the investigation of the Security Directorate of Larissa, the 33-year-old along with five other young people (including four of his compatriots and a minor from Larisa) and an unknown number of their accomplices from June to October 2012 they robbed and beat Larissaianswho were driving their car along Martali Street in the area of ​​the Customs.

According to the case file, the perpetrators “they approached their victims by surprise or by asking them for fire or a cigarette and then violently robbed them, mainly taking away the money they brought with them and their mobile phones.” According to the complaints, while one of the defendants was asking the passing driver to give him a cigarette, the other of the perpetrators suddenly opened the passenger door and then, the perpetrators -usually with a different composition-, violently robbed their victims.

On June 18, 2013 the 33-year-old was brought before the Three-member Court of Criminal Appeals of Larisa, where he was found guilty of the acts of the gang, bodily harm in 3 cases and robbery in 6 cases.

With the Court imposing a total prison sentence of 17 years on him and, among other things, ordering his deportation to his home country after serving the sentence.

After the sentencing decision, he would be taken to the Transfer Department, when, according to testimonies, as the elevator door opened in the basement of the Larissa Courthouse, while he was accompanied by employees of the Prison Guard, he ran away.

According to reports, the 33-year-old ended up in the UK, where he was working in his own businessbut on the occasion of his illegal activity he was arrested, only to find out that European Arrest Warrants were pending against him, with Interpol informing the Greek Authorities.
