“A girl once, they threw her on the rocks, after they tortured her with terrible hatred. They had no fear, they knew they would be called men, so they would stand out, dudes from the crowd…”
The curtain of the events of the municipality of Thessaloniki for International Women’s Day opened yesterday, March 4, with the speech of Thanasis Triaridis entitled “the women who did not stop in front of the knife”.
The author presented to the packed hall of the municipal council the song he wrote for the deceased Eleni Topaloudi, entitled “Terrible centuries”, with the audience applauding him.
“A girl once, they threw her on the rocks
After they tortured it with terrible hatred
they had no fear, they knew they would be called men
and that’s how they’ll stand out, dudes from the crowd.
And then many people talked about that girl
and they saw her two murderers, a pitiful beast
monsters born in a monster world…
March 8 has been established as International Women’s Day, a day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide, while also highlighting the need to act and accelerate gender equality.
