Meeting for dealing with falls and the landslide phenomena in places where the Odontotos railway line passes, was held today in Patras, between the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christina Alexopoulos, the regional governor of Western Greece, Nektarios Farmakis and the managing director of OSE, Panagiotis Terezakis.

According to the district, during the meeting it was decided to temporarily close part of the Odontotos railway line until the seizures are finally dealt with, the development of which is linked to natural disasters, such as fires and floods that occurred in the previous period of time. In fact, as it was emphasized, taking measures is necessary, as the first concern is the safety of the citizens.

Also, it was decided to hold meetings of relevant bodies to deal with the general phenomenon of landslides that is observed in the wider area and affects the road networks.

In statements he made the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christina Alexopoulou, stated that “in the context of serious and substantial political accountability, we work responsibly and methodically for every issue that arises and concerns the safety of citizens” and added: “We cooperate and work in coordination with the co-competent agencies, so that we can immediately complete the procedures required and to proceed with restoration work, so that we do not have issues with traffic and movement safety”.

From his side, the regional governor Nektarios Farmakis stated that “the Region of Western Greece is cooperating with the co-competent agencies, so that we can coordinately intervene to restore the confiscations” adding that “we are in constant contact with the co-competent ministries in search of optimal and integrated solutions, so that citizens’ crossings can be made safely” .

Before the meeting, he preceded autopsy of the deputy minister at the points through which Odontotos passes and especially at those where landslides have occurred.
