The service can be accessed either directly on gov.gr, or in the “Citizen and everyday life” section and the “Residential address and communication” sub-section.
It is available online through gov.gr from today the Certificate of Permanent Residence for residents of 277 Municipalities of the country following a Joint Ministerial Decision (Government Gazette B’ 1460) of the Ministers of the Interior Nikis Kerameos, Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou and the Deputy Minister of the Interior Theodoris Livaniou.
Through a particularly simple procedure, interested citizens can submit their application electronically and receive the certificate at the citizen’s mailbox on gov.gr, easily and without unnecessary paperwork. The certificate is issued by the Municipality, where the residential address belongs within 10 days. In the event that the deadline has passed and there is no response, citizens now have the option to issue the certificate themselves online from gov.gr.
The service can be accessed either directly on gov.gr, or in the “Citizen and everyday life” section and the “Residential address and communication” sub-section.
To submit the application:
Citizens log in with their personal passwords to TaxisNet.
They register or confirm the required information in the application, attach the necessary supporting documents and submit their application.
Upon submission, the application is sent electronically to the Municipality Mailbox where the residential address is located, for review and completion of the process within 10 days.
If the 10-day period passes without an answer, citizens can issue the certificate online through gov.gr, provided the conditions are met.
Upon completion of the process, the certificate is sent to the Citizen’s Mailbox at gov.gr and citizens are informed by email to the email address and SMS to the mobile phone number they have registered in the National Communications Registry at emep.gov.gr.
The certificate, which is issued, has the validity characteristics of gov.gr, i.e. a unique code number in alphanumeric format and in QR format, as well as an advanced electronic signature of the Ministry of Digital Governance and is valid when it is circulated both as an electronic document and as a paper document.
It is worth noting that the remaining Municipalities of the country will gradually join gov.gr and accept applications for the issuance of permanent residence. The infrastructure and applications have already been created for all 322 Municipalities of the country.
The service was designed and developed by the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, the Ministry of the Interior, the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance and the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures (EDYTE SA – GRNET) of the Ministry of Digital Governance. Citizens’ data is collected through the Interoperability Center of the General Secretariat of Information Systems and Digital Governance of the Ministry of Digital Governance.
